Speech & Feeding Therapist
Hi there!
I'm Sam (Samantha)! I'm a speech and language pathologist who graduated with a Bachelor's in Speech and Language Pathology and French and completed my Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from The University of Northern Colorado.
I have experience working with pediatrics and adults in various medical and educational settings. I also have worked with multiple diagnoses, including articulation/phonological and language disorders, childhood apraxia, stuttering, pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders, and motor speech disorders requiring AAC. I have studied and been trained in Beckman Oral Motor, Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) feeding approach, Fragile Infant Feeding Institute (FIFI), Catherine Shaker and Melanie Potock's Feeding courses, NOMAS International Feeding Symposium, Lindamood-Bell's Visualizing and Verbalizing, PECS, LAMP and Tobii Dynavox Core (AAC).
I am passionate about using a positive developmental play-based approach with infants and children with feeding and communication challenges. I plan to continue my education in the areas of feeding and swallowing, myofunctional disorders, voice, childhood apraxia of speech, and AAC. I am certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association and licensed by the State of Michigan and Colorado. I live near Rockford and enjoy spending time in nature, writing, reading, baking, and outdoor activities with my husband, young daughter, and sassy Great Pyrenees mountain dog.
